RSPsoc Annual Student Meeting 2010, 15-17th March 2010, Plymouth

Introduction

Following a great Student Meeting in Glaramara last year, the 2010 Annual Student Meeting will take place at the Mount Batten Activity Centre in Plymouth (click on this link to view the poster). We have hence continued the activity centre theme but this year we are moving from a terrestrial environment to the marine environment.

The meeting gives students studying either photogrammetry or remote sensing the opportunity to present their findings in an easy-going environment and to meet students from different institutions, network and have a good time.

The meeting is open to both UK and international students and offers a broad range of topics and applications covering all aspects of photogrammetry and remote sensing.

The event will include key note speakers, prizes for best poster and presentation and either Hawk sailing or a visit to the national aquarium!

Why should I attend?

The RSPSoc Student Meeting is the only meeting of its kind where young scientists in the field of remote sensing and photogrammetry can meet to discuss their work and liaise with like minded people.

Feedback from previous meetings indicate that such an event is an excellent opportunity for students to present their research, often for the first time, network and get a wider view of what's going on in remote sensing and photogrammetry.

Their will be opportunities for prizes and potentially meet future employers with commercial presentations.

But most importantly it gives remote sensing and photogrammetry students the opportunity to escape their academic institution, relax and have some fun!

Information for authors

The student meeting provides an excellent opportunity for students to develop their presentation skills. Therefore, we strongly suggest students present either an oral or poster presentation. Furthermore, following previous meetings there will be an opportunity to submit an academic paper to the Journal of Maps student edition based of work presented at the student meeting.

Abstracts:
No more than 250 words detailing the main points of your research. This can be emailed directly to robert.brewin@plymouth.ac.uk preferably in word .doc or .docx format.

Oral presentations will be 15 minutes long with 5 minutes for questions and discussion. The suggested size for posters are A0 or A1 and presenters will be asked to stand by their posters in a dedicated session and give an explanation of their research and answer any questions.

Costs

The cost of the Student Meeting is now £50 including all meals, conference facilities and accommodation. Cost of the student meeting without accommodation is £25. An additional cost of £15 will be required for anyone wishing to take part in the watersports activity (highly recommended!) or £10 to visit the National Aquarium which will be payable at the event.

Non-RSPSoc member delegates are required to pay an extra £25. For details on how to join RSPSoc as a student (£22) please click the following http://www.rspsoc.org/about-rspsoc/how-to-join-rspsoc/
